Jungle Up And Breath
One woman’s story of her transformational journey from the “bubble of America,” to the jungles of Costa Rica and back to self.

One woman’s story of her transformational journey from the “bubble of America,” to the jungles of Costa Rica and back to self.

This past November marks a year since Maryann Petrone’s first book, Jungle Up And Breathe, was published.

She has expressed to us the overwhelming gratitude she feels towards her readers for the warmth and supportive feedback.

Its no wonder in a time where the world is in a state of uncertainty and fear that Jungle Up and Breathe has touched the hearts of so many. It is a story where it inspires the reader to look within and through her story gives tools to find one’s own light.  “In a world of fear, anger and confusion, we need to individually shine our light through the darkness and then together as one, I believe we can light up the world.”

When asked why she wanted to write a book she said, “my wish is to impress the importance of courage in living our truth and how faith can play a critical role in the lives of many who desire a change for peace.”

Jungle Up And Breathe was originally written as a inspirational memoir, just before going to print, Maryann converted it to fiction after considering the delicate nature of memoir. Annie, the books main character was created in the authors image, lending the author to vulnerability and judgement.  “Telling the truth is an act of love,” Maryann explains, “and its end is liberation, freedom and possible reconciliation.”

Maryann is a mother of two grown children, a Spiritual Life Coach, writer and this past summer was the lead herbalist at Morning Glory Farm here on the Vineyard. The past few years she has split her time between living in Costa Rica, Falmouth and Martha’s Vineyard. When here in the United States she enjoys traveling about in her custom-built van with her chihuahua Lucy Lou.

Any plans for a second book? Most definitely, when inspired. It will be called “Rise Up and Breathe,” the story of what it is like to take what bits of wisdom were found in the jungle and apply them among the “triggers I left behind.”  What fun!

Her book can be found at local bookstores and on Amazon.
