Chris Miller credits his family and about 200 employees for making Millers Professionals Group such a success. The company manages a diverse portfolio of subsidiary businesses, each focusing on a specific area. Over the last twenty-one years, Chris has built a community of dedicated landscapers, skilled construction crews, remodeling specialists, roofing and siding experts, pool professionals, and architects who ensure that every part of your home improvement project is handled by experienced individuals with a thorough understanding of their craft.
Chris’s journey to the Millers Professionals started when he was a child in a small town in Brazil, where Chris and Lauriete Miller he helped his parents on their farm and his father and grandfather with construction work. He moved to Boston in 2000 at age 17, and while working in construction, he got involved in landscaping. Chris explains, “With my background in farming, I could relate to landscaping—the planting, trimming, working with irrigation systems, and so forth.”
After working for several companies, Chris launched his own construction business in 2004. The company handles everything from concept to completion. His team of architects, engineers, builders, and interior designers crafts high-quality residential homes, using eco-friendly practices and energy-efficient materials. In addition to primary residences, Millers Professionals builds elegant and efficient guest houses, detached bedrooms, and garages, all designed to maximize space while balancing aesthetics and practicality. Smaller projects include converting basements into stylish, functional spaces such as a cozy family room, a modern home office, or an entertainment area. Soon after, Chris added landscaping services.
As the construction business expanded, Chris spun off its roofing and siding divisions into Millers R&S. Chris states, “Safety, durability, and customer satisfaction are the foundation of our work. Using premium materials and expert craftsmanship, we guarantee long-lasting protection for homes and businesses. From siding upgrades to complete roof replacements, our goal is to combine beauty, resilience, and performance in every project.”
Then about seven years ago,” Chris recalls, “I was building high-end homes in Edgartown, and I needed a pool installed. I called three or four companies on Island, but I couldn’t find anyone to do the work. I finally found one from Rhode Island. It was a terrible experience, and the price was outrageous. After going through that twice, I thought, ‘How can I build affordable pools on Martha’s Vineyard?’” Chris remained undeterred, as he explained, “In South America, when you build a house, you do everything, including the plumbing and electrical work. So, I got certified and was able to install my first pool for $50,000.” Today, Millers Pools designs, builds, and installs gunite concrete pools, fiberglass pools, vinyl liner pools, and the innovative Little Pools. They also offer complete swimming pool maintenance, repairs, landscaping, and decking.
Over time, Chris realized there was a need to bring designers onto the team. “That was another gap. We were building houses and trying to deliver the best service for our clients. We were running into the issue with architects being too busy. Or a client would call and say, 'I want a garage, or an addition, or a house,’ and I couldn’t get anyone to design it for them. I said, ‘This isn’t right. You have to be able to do something.’ So, I searched and found people willing to work with me. Now we can do everything in-house from design to construction.”
As the different companies thrived on the Cape as well, Chris discovered, “We had a hard time bringing office staff to the Island, so we also opened an office in Falmouth. Our goal is to serve people on the Vineyard and Cape Cod with the best price and service.”
In 2023, Chris started the Millers Foundation, motivated by a desire to go beyond business and build a legacy of love, solidarity, and transformation. “People started coming to us from all over, asking for help. I couldn’t say no to anyone, so I started the foundation. It’s a beautiful thing and I love it.” The Millers Foundation creates programs and projects to strengthen family and community bonds. These include constructing artesian wells to supply clean drinking water to vulnerable areas, such as those in Northern Brazil. The foundation also supports at-risk children in Mozambique by offering care and education. Over the past two years, the foundation has provided more than 600 adults and children in Brazil, Africa, and Venezuela with education, food aid, and direct assistance to families in need. It also sponsors Solidarity Christmas, an annual celebration for children and families.
Speaking about Millers Professionals Group, Chris emphasizes, “I couldn’t do this by myself. My wife Lauriete has been by my side since I started the business. I have three kids, and they all help as well. My brother has been with me for many years. My nephews are also involved. And I have a great team—people who have been with me for 15 years. They are all amazing. So, I have to give every one credit.”
