Tracker Home Decor - Designing On Track

Tracker Home Décor is the culmination of a dream of a trio of friends and colleagues in the design business. Opened in May on Pease’s Point Way South in Edgartown, it’s Martha’s Vineyard’s newest home furnishings and interior design resource.

Tracker Home Décor incorporates the creative talents of interior designer John Murphy, the retailing skills of Helen Koch, and the workroom genius of Scott Patterson. “It’s a great recipe for success,” John says.

The recipe combines the Edgartown shop itself, with its in-house design center, along with an on-Island workroom in Vineyard Haven where Scott Patterson works his magic. The retail shop offers a wide array of unique and stylish home furnishings along with complete interior design services. The workroom is the place where slipcovers, upholstery and sewing services are done.

When the store opened on May 15, a crowd of enthusiastic existing clients and newcomers filled the shop. Located in the former home of Rush and Fisher Antiques in the Lamplighter Building, ambiance was added with fresh flowers from Justin Levine, as it is every day.

“Because I have a passion for bed linens, we carry a wide array of products, all the way down to mattress enhancers, a name I find more appealing than the traditional bed pads,” John said. “We’ve got some great Vineyard art by Barbara Grant and a line of photography from Edward Blaine.”

“We offer a wonderful mix of styles at all price points,” John said. “It’s an eclectic mix of vintage and new. Among my personal favorites are our great vintage lamps”.

They carry the Oomph line of tables and chairs by Vineyard summer resident Louise Brooks. There is a fabric library – with books and hanging samples – and a custom window department. Future plans call for and outdoor area for garden furnishing and ornaments.

John brings a combined fifteen years of design experience and 22 years in retail background – all on Martha’s Vineyard – to Tracker Home Décor.

“As a designer, my favorite part of the work is the hunt,” John said. “I’ll never lose the thrill of finding just the right unique pieces and watching my clients’ excited reactions when I present them.”

The shop’s eclectic selections are reflective of John’s approach to design. “I don’t have a signature look,” he says. “My customer’s wishes always drive my designs.”

As a cooperative member of the community, Tracker Home Décor invites fellow Vineyard designers to visit and use their fabulous sampless and wealth of other design resources. Asked about competitive concerns, John repied. “I feel there’s plenty of work to go around for all the designers on the Vineyard.”

Whether you’re seeking an extraordinary found item, a one-of-a-kind upholstered headboard, luxurious bed linens, or a soup to nuts design service, you’ll find it at Tracker Home Décor.
