Things Are Looking Up at The Lookout

by Amelia Smith

The Lookout Tavern first opened its doors in 1999. This past winter, the former summer cottage underwent a second trans-formation. Owner Michael Santoro and contractor Brian Lane had initially only planned to add a basement, but in the end they re-designed the kitchen, renovated the bathrooms, added new tile work, and opened up the front wall of the dining room. Entrees are now available along with the Lookout's established selection of sushi, burgers, salads and sandwiches.

New glass accordion doors connect the dining room to the porch, giving diners an unobstructed view of the ocean. “There wasn't enough room to expand the porch, which is where everyone wants to sit,” Michael says. Inspiration struck one night when he was closing the accordion doors of the Game Room on Circuit Ave. He applied that concept at the Lookout, and so that more diners can enjoy the view and the breeze coming in off the ocean.
