James Weisman studied with Louis Kahn at the University of Pennsylvania where he received the Paul Phillip Cret Medal for Architectural Design and numerous other grants and awards.

Childhood summers spent in Menemsha changed to year round life and practice on Martha’s Vineyard in 1976. The practice of architecture from Philadelphia, Antigua, Singapore, The Cook Islands, Fiji and other places in the world condensed into a focused practice on Martha’s Vineyard with over a hundred projects completed on the island.

Green Architecture has been a focus since studying with Louis Kahn and the earliest projects on the island are still delightful and productive. Jamie Weisman, founder of Terrain Architects, was one of the pioneers in designing passive solar heating into his homes, renovations and additions – the low-tech solution whose track record is time and pocketbook tested.
